Overview
If an organization cancels a section you were enrolled in, your enrollment is ended by the organization, not by you. This is different from dropping a course yourself.
When a section is canceled:
- Your enrollment moves to a Canceled status (not Dropped).
- You receive a cancellation email with the details.
- A refund is issued automatically if you paid for the section.
- The section is hidden from the course catalog.
- Your dashboard reflects the cancellation for a short time before the section is removed.
The Cancellation Email
You will receive a cancellation email automatically after the section is canceled. The email includes:
- The name of the section that was canceled
- The section's original start and end dates
- The name of the instructor
This email is sent from your organization — it is a formal notification that the class cannot run. It is a different email from a standard enrollment or drop confirmation.
Note: The cancellation email does not include refund details. Refund confirmation comes separately from your payment provider or your organization's billing system.
Your Enrollment and Refund
Your enrollment status changes to Canceled. This label in your enrollment history indicates the organization ended the section — not that you dropped or were removed.
| How You Paid | What Happens |
| Credit or debit card | A full refund is issued automatically to your original card. Allow a few business days for the refund to appear, depending on your card issuer. |
| Check or cash | A credit is applied to your account with the organization. Contact your organization's staff for information about how and when you will receive your funds. |
| Coupon (full discount — you paid $0) | No refund is issued because no payment was made. |
| Coupon (partial discount — you paid a reduced price) | You are refunded the amount you actually paid out of pocket. |
Your Dashboard
After the section is canceled, it will appear in your Active Courses list with a Canceled label for up to 3 days. After 3 days, the section is removed from your dashboard automatically.
You do not need to take any action. However, if you want to remove it sooner, you can open the section and choose to hide it from your dashboard before the 3-day window expires.
Completed courses are not affected by section cancellation. If you already completed a section, your completion record remains intact.
Finding Another Course
After a cancellation, the section is no longer available in the catalog. If you want to find a similar course or re-enroll in a future offering, visit the course catalog in your learner portal and search for the course name or topic.
If you have questions about when a replacement section will be available, contact your organization's training team or administrator.
If You Were on the Waitlist
If you were on the wait list for the section when it was canceled:
- You are automatically removed from the wait list.
- Any open offer to join the section is closed.
- If you pre-paid to join the wait list, a refund is issued automatically.
- You receive a notification email confirming your removal from the wait list.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to Do |
| I did not receive a cancellation email | Check your spam or junk folder. Confirm your email address is up to date in your learner profile. If you still cannot find it, contact your organization's support team. |
| My refund has not appeared yet | Refunds to credit or debit cards typically take 3–5 business days to appear depending on your card issuer. If more than a week has passed, contact your organization's support team with your order or transaction details. |
| I paid by check or cash and have not heard about my refund | Your organization needs to process this manually. Contact your organization's staff or training team to ask about the status of your refund. |
| The section still shows in my dashboard after 3 days | Wait a few more hours and refresh your page. If it still appears after 24 additional hours, contact your organization's support team. |
| My enrollment shows as Dropped instead of Canceled | Dropped means you or an administrator ended your enrollment before the section was canceled. Contact your organization if you believe there is an error. |
Note: For administrator information about the section cancellation process — including how to cancel a section, how refunds work, and how to access the Cancellation Report — see Canceling Sections.
