ACCOUNT_CREATION_USERNAME_PATTERN

Determines the format in which the username will be created if no value is provided, for example, on the public registration page. Accepted variables [EMAIL] / [FIRST_NAME] / [LAST_NAME]. Examples: [EMAIL] [FIRST_NAME].FixedValue [FIRST_NAME].[LAST_NAME] White spaces will be removed.

ADD_ALL_USERS_TO_LMS

By default, Genius only creates learners and facilitators in the LMS. If you set this parameter to 1, all users created in Genius, including coaches, managers and administrators, will have a corresponding account in the LMS. For security reasons, we note that for some learning management systems, Genius will not make it possible for non-learner and non-instructor users to log seamlessly into the LMS.

AFFILIATION_COURSE_CAP

This allows a client to limit the number of enrollments in a given course section for a given affiliation. For instance, a client could limit the enrollments to 2 learners per affiliation, so that one affiliation does not end up taking all seats of a course section.

AFFILIATION_ROLES

Determine all roles that can be assigned to manage an affiliation. You can add multiple user roles separated by a comma.

ALLOW_MULTI_AFFILIATION_PER_LEARNER

Allows the Genius user to be associated to only one (0=false), or more than one (1=true) affiliation at a time.

ALLOW_OBJECT_DELETION

This controls whether administrator(s) can delete objects, such as: learners, facilitators, courses, sections, user, or application. When you set the parameter to “0”, it means the administrator cannot delete these objects. This may be a good idea if you have many administrators in your organization, as object deletion can have potentially unpredictable effects due to the large number of links between objects in Genius.

ALLOW_ROW_CLICK

Determines whether users can select a row by clicking anywhere in that row, instead of having to click on the column with the link. This applies to tables generated by Genius that have links in them - for example, the Active Learners or the Active Sections pages.

ALLOWED_EMAIL_DOMAINS

LIMIT EMAIL DOMAIN TO .GOV EMAILS ONLY. Ex: .gov,.edu

API_TOKEN

This API token is needed if you are using Genius REST APIs. It is the key to execute a REST API call. This is the token that is used to validate any requests to the API, used by third-party systems to integrate with Genius.

ASSET_MANAGER_USER_ID

Whenever there are no available assets of a particular type, Genius will automatically create a task for this user alerting them that the inventory needs to be replenished. Usually, the user with ID = 1 is the Genius support admin account. We suggest you change this parameter to your own personal admin account ID if you would like to receive this notification.

AUTO_DROP_UPON_REQUEST

This allows you to configure whether a user will be able to drop a course directly (value set to 1), or whether an Administrator will be given a chance to approve or deny a drop request when a Learner drops a course (value set to 0). If you set this Parameter to 0, all Drop Requests will be listed under Reports > Enrollments > Drop Requests.

AUTO_SUGGEST_SECTION_NAME

Determines whether Genius should automatically suggest the section name based on the selected course name and the number of existing sections of that course (course name + sec. #) in the selected term. When you set the parameter to “1”, it means Genius will suggest a section name. When you set the parameter to “0”, it means Genius will not suggest a section name.

AUTOEMAILS.STATIC_CC

If completed, this parameter will allow you to define an email address that will receive a copy of all emails generated by Genius on your behalf. This may be useful if you wish to trace the communications generated by the system for logging or auditing purposes without providing administrative rights to another user, for example.

AWS_ACCESS_KEY

Genius typically hosts in AWS. This parameter is the access key to your Genius instance in AWS. It is used when leveraging AWS SMS messaging.

AWS_REGION

Genius typically hosts in AWS. This parameter is the region your Genius instance is hosted in. It is used when leveraging AWS SMS messaging.

AWS_SECRET_KEY

Genius typically hosts in AWS. This parameter is the secret key to your Genius instance in AWS. It is used when leveraging AWS SMS messaging.

AWS_SMS_SENDERID

Genius typically hosts in AWS. This parameter is the sender ID for SMS messages sent from your Genius instance. It is used when leveraging AWS SMS messaging.

AZURE_AD_BASE_URL

BLOCK_ENROLLMENT_IN_THE_SAME_COURSE_BEFORE_END_DATE

Determines whether the shopping cart should validate the requested sections for the following scenarios: - are not of the same course, - or the learner already has another active enrollment for the same course - or if the learner has another enrollment completed for the same course, the end date is not in the future. If any of these scenarios are true, the student should not proceed with the purchase/requisition submission process. (1 = The validation should be done 0 - The validation should NOT be done.

COACH_ROLES

Determine all roles that can be assigned to coach a learner. Determines the user role(s) that should appear under the Coaches tab. You can add multiple user roles separated by a comma.

COMMUNICATION_DISPLAY_LENGTH

Defines how many characters of a communication entry should be displayed in the summary screen. Change this value to increase the length of the previews that you can see when reviewing the communication logs generated by Genius.

CREDLY_URL

Credly API URL.

DEFAULT_AFFILIATION_ID

This sets the default Affiliation that a section/course/learner will be associated with upon creation. We recommend you set this to your topmost affiliation. If you set this value to -1, it will be associated with the ANY affiliation. If you are not making use of Affiliations to restrict access to your courses, this is a very good choice.

DEFAULT_ATTENDANCE_TYPE

When taking attendance in Genius, this parameter determines the default value that appears for all learners actively enrolled in the course. The default values can be edited under Administration > Lists. They are Present, Unexcused Absence, Excused Absence, and Exempt.

DEFAULT_CHECKOUT_PAGE_MAIL_CHECK_ADDRESS

System default mail a check address used when field in left blank at the affiliation level.

DEFAULT_CREDITS

This sets the default number of credits that will be filled in when creating a new section.

DEFAULT_CURRENCY

Default is USD

DEFAULT_DAYS

This sets the default number of days (duration) that will be filled in when creating a new section. If no section start or end date is entered, DEFAULT_DAYS determines the duration based on enrollment start date.

DEFAULT_INSTRUCTOR_ID

This parameter sets the ID of the Instructor user that will be filled by default when you create new Sections in Genius. You can review the instructor ID by clicking on the Instructor tab in Genius. If you have default instructor that you would like courses to be assigned to (for example, an Instructor who is responsible for all or most of your sections), set his ID in this parameter.

DEFAULT_SCHOOL_ID

When creating a new learner, this sets the default SCHOOL ID they should be associated with. If you have not defined multiple schools, leave this parameter on its default value.

DEFAULT_SECTION_CAP

When creating a new section, this parameter sets the default 'cap' or limit to the number of learners that can enroll in the section. This figure can still be changed by the user when required.

DISABLE_SHOPPING_CART

Removes the shopping cart paradigm and shortens the registration process.

DO_NOT_SEND_COMPLETION_TO_LMS

Used to designate whether you want to make the learner unavailable in the LMS course after they successfully complete the course. A value = 0 tells Genius to make the user unavailable in the LMS course after completion. A value = 1 tells Genius to leave the user as available in the LMS course so they can continue to access materials in the LMS after they completed it.

DO_NOT_SEND_SECTION_ARCHIVE_TO_LMS

Used to designate whether you want to make the course unavailable/unpublished in the LMS course after the section is archived in Genius. A value = 0 tells Genius to make the course unavailable in the LMS, after a section is archived. A value = 1 tells Genius to leave the course as available in the LMS, after a section is archived.

DO_NOT_SEND_LEARNER_ARCHIVE_TO_LMS

Used to designate whether you want to make the learner unavailable in the LMS after the learner is archived in Genius. A value = 0 tells Genius to make the learner unavailable in the LMS, after a learner is archived. A value = 1 tells Genius to leave the learner as available in the LMS, after a learner is archived.

ENABLE_CREDLY

This option allows to enable (1=true) or disable (0=false) Credly Integration.

ENABLE_EXPERIENTIAL_LEARNING

Enable or disable the Experiential Learning module.

ENABLE_REGISTRATION_INVOICE

Enable AUTO_REGISTRATION_INVOICE to be sent after the learner purchases items from the catalog. 1=True 0=False.

ENABLE_SUBSCRIPTION

Allow to enable learner by/register a subscription to access the courses.

ENFORCE_PASSWORD_VALIDATION_ON_ADMIN_PAGES

If this parameter is set to 0, all user creation and update activities made by an Administrator will NOT enforce password policies, allowing administrators to assign weak passwords to new users. Front-end learners are always subject to password complexity rules.

ENROLLMENT_BULKACTIONS_AUTO_EXPAND_ADVANCED_FILTERS

Under Learner and Enrollment menu Bulk Actions, there are advanced filters. This parameter = 1 automatically expands those advanced filters. This parameter = 0 shows the page with the advanced filters collapsed, where they have to be manually expanded.

ENROLLMENT_ICS_FILE

OFF - do not send these at all. MEETINGTIMES - send ONLY when the section has meeting times defined. DATES - send BOTH when the section has meeting times OR a start/end date defined.

ENROLLMENT_IS_COMPLETED_FORMULA

This is the system default gradebook completion rule that flags if a course was successfully completed. It lets Genius know that the learner successfully completed the course, and the total grade is now final. You can also set the successful course completion rule at the section level. If left blank at the section level, Genius will use this system default. Every course-section has a “Completion Formula” field which will override the global parameter if it exists. The options for completion are based on: the value “Complete”, in the “Completed” column; all gradebook columns with a posted value; a percentage of gradebook columns with a posted value; all gradebook columns with a posted value, and average grade greater than or equal to X; all gradebook columns with a posted value, and every grade column greater than or equal to X; and the value “PASS”, in the Overall grade column.

ENROLLMENT_STATUS_TOWARDS_CAP

Determines what enrollment status count towards the enrollment cap. The default is ACTIVE, COMPLETED. You can add any enrollment status separated by comma.

EXPERIENTIAL_LEARNING_VERIFICATION_PERIOD

The period that the system will wait for approval or denial of the request before automatically denying it can be configured in the system settings. This timeframe determines the duration within which the system expects a response from the relevant party. If no response is received within this configured period, the system will automatically deny the request. This feature helps manage and enforce timely responses to requests within the defined timeframe.

EXPERIENTIAL_LEARNING_VERIFICATION_REQUESTS_ATTEMPTS

The number of times the system will send a request to the trainers' email while it remains pending can be configured in the system settings. This value determines how many email reminders or notifications will be sent to the trainer to prompt them for a response or action. It helps ensure that trainers receive timely reminders and prompts to address pending tasks or requests.

FORCE_PASSWORD_CHANGE_FOR_NEW_ACCOUNTS

Forces a new user to change their password the first time they log into Genius (1=True, 0=False).

FORCE_PASSWORD_CHANGE_WHEN_OTHERS_CHANGE_USER_PASSWORD

Forces an existing user to change their password the first time they log into Genius, after their password has been reset by a Genius administrator, affiliation, coach, or instructor who has access (1=True, 0=False).

GENIUS_PAYMENT_ROOTURL

This is used for the response of the payment gateway.

GENIUS_ROOTURL

This is the base URL of your Genius instance. This changes for each instance of Genius. Changing this parameter is not recommended, as it could lead to undesired effects!

GRACE_PERIOD_AFTER_ENROLL_STARTDATE

This value sets the number of days after a learner is enrolled in a course-section when the learner can drop the enrollment and get a refund equivalent to the amount in the REFUND_FEE and REFUND_PERCENTAGE parameters. It is only used when a course-section does not have a fixed/specified section start date. A drop within the grace period (N number of days after enrollment start date) are classified as DROPPED_GRACE enrollment status and can receive a refund. A drop after the grace period is classified as DROPPED enrollment status and does not receive a refund. Default value is 21 days, if left blank or null. If there is no grace period refund, the value should be set to 0.

GRACE_PERIOD_BEFORE_SECTION_STARTDATE

This value sets the number of days before a fixed/specified course-section when the learner can drop the enrollment and get a refund equivalent to the amount in the REFUND_FEE and REFUND_PERCENTAGE parameters. It is only used when a course-section has a fixed/specified section start date. A drop within the grace period (N number of days before section start date) are classified as DROPPED_GRACE enrollment status and can receive a refund. A drop after the grace period is classified as DROPPED enrollment status and does not receive a refund. Default value is 0 days, if left blank or null. If there is no grace period refund, value should be set to 0.

HIGHLIGHTED_COURSE_IMAGE

The HTML code to create an image that appears in the upper right-hand corner of courses that have been highlighted. Highlighting a course in the way to pin a course to the top of the registration page.

INSTRUCTOR_ROLES

Determine all roles that can be assigned to instruct a course-section. Determines the user role(s) that should appear under the Instructor tab. You can add multiple user roles separated by a comma.

INVALID_LOGIN_ATTEMPT_INTERVAL_HOURS

They determine the number of invalid login attempts before the account is locked for a designated number of hours. Related to the INVALID_LOGIN_MAX_ATTEMPT parameter.

INVALID_LOGIN_MAX_ATTEMPT

They determine the number of invalid login attempts before the account is locked for a designated number of hours. Related to the INVALID_LOGIN_ATTEMPT_INTERVAL_HOURS parameter.

LAST_LOGGED_IN_DATE_IN_DAYS

This parameter is tied to the job that runs nightly and changes Learner status from ACTIVE to ARCHIVED for any Learner that Learner last login date is more than value in days.

LEARNER_AUTO_ENROLL_SECTION

When this parameter is set to a value different than "0", all learners that are created in Genius will automatically be enrolled in a section with ID number equal to the value of this parameter. This enrollment will happen regardless of how the learner is created (manually, in bulk or via CSV upload). If learners are being enrolled in courses without your intervention, take a look at this parameter first. The value accepts more than one value, separated by '|'

LEARNER_DASHBOARD_GRADES_REFRESH_ENABLED

Similar to real-time grades refresh, but for REST, and during login only: As soon as a Learner logs in, if LEARNER_DASHBOARD_GRADES_REFRESH_ENABLED is enabled (1, which is default), we'll try to refresh the student's grades. There is a refresh button on the completed courses module that you can kick off the grades refresh again without having to logout and back in.

LEARNER_DASHBOARD_GRADES_REFRESH_TIMEOUT

The number of seconds that the login process should WAIT for the grades to be synched (e.g., 1, 2, 3 seconds) - default is 2. If set to 0 or -1 this means that grades will be enqueued, but job won't be waited for, so that we don't slow the login process at all.

LEARNER_DASHBOARD_SHOW_COMPETENCIES

Determines whether Genius should display the competencies achieved module on the Learner Dashboard. The list of competencies displayed is dependent on the competencies associated affiliations the learner is a member of. Competencies are also associated to sections, and the learner receives a check mark for competencies based on completed sections.

LEARNERS_SHOULD_REVIEW_INFO_EVERY_X_DAYS

The value determines the number of days where the learner is forced to validate their learner account information. After logging in, the Learner is taken immediately to their edit account page to correct any account information that may have changed.

LEDGER_INTEREST

Determines the monthly interest used by CheckLearnerBalance.AddInterestToLedger job. This job adds an interest charge to the ledger (based on a designated percentage) on the 1st of every month, for any learner that has a negative ledger balance at the time.

LMS_CREATE_COPY_COURSE_WITH_ENROLLMENTS

When copying a course in LMS determines whether enrollments are copied or not into the section/offering. (1 = true, 0 = false)

LOG_API_QUERIES

Determines whether API Query content should be logged. For security purposes, please keep this one on.

LOG_CHANGES

Determine whether changes to the database should be logged. When parameter is set to "1", means yes. When parameter is set to "0", means "no". Try to keep this parameter turned on in order to ensure that the transactions made to your Genius instance remain logged.

LOG_EMAILS

Determines whether emails sent from Genius should be logged. For security and traceability purposes, we recommend you leave this one on.

LOG_ERRORS

Determines whether system errors should be logged. Genius support staff and your organization's System Administrator can use the logs to debug the system or check if any customization created on your behalf are working properly. 1=True 0=False

LOG_LOGINS

Determines whether user logins should be logged. For security purposes, please keep this one on. 1=True 0=False.

LOG_QUERIES

Determines whether regular SQL queries should be logged, usually done for debugging purposes. This parameter is kept turned off by default because it may generate excessive details. 1=True 0=False.

LOGIN_PAGE

Identifies the login page, if user needs to be redirected. For example, if users log in through their LMS and not through Genius, this parameter is typically readjusted accordingly.

MAX_EXTRA_ASSIGNMENTS

This parameter is not used. This defines the number of extra assignments that Genius will allocate when the learner is behind schedule. This is shown in the Suggested Pacing page in the Learner Dashboard.

MAX_FAVORITE_REPORTS

Determines how many favorite reports each user can have. A user can save their favorite Reports for re-use in the sidebar under the Reports tab.

MAX_PACE_DAYS

When creating a course, this Parameter governs the way in which Genius calculates pacing. This parameter is rarely used in the ProEd version of Genius - please contact us if you have any questions about how to use this variable.

MAX_ROWS_EXPORT

This parameter governs the number of rows that will be exported in documents that are exported from Genius to Microsoft Excel. Because Excel's performance degrades significantly once spreadsheets get past a certain size, it is a good idea to set a limit on what can be exported. Default value = 10000

MESSAGING_ROLES_LEARNERS_CAN_REACH

Values determine the Roles a learner can send messages too. A Learner can only send messages to Instructor/TEACHER of courses they are enrolled in. A Learner can only send messages to COACH they are associated with. A Learner can only send messages to AFFILIATION managers where they are a member of that affiliation. A Learner can send messages to any ADMIN user for assistance. DEFAULT: TEACHER, COACH, AFFILIATION, ADMIN

MFA_Require_Code_Interval_in_Days

Set the number of days the two-factor authentication is valid.

NAME_FORMAT

This allows you to configure how names are displayed in Genius. Setting this parameter to "1" will display them on a [FirstName, LastName] basis, while setting this parameter to "2" will display them on a [LastName, FirstName] basis. This will also impact the way learners are organized in the tables rendered by your Genius instance.

NEW_LEARNERS_REQUIRE_APPROVAL

This parameter determines whether the learner account is created automatically from publicstudentsignup.aspx, or they must wait to be approved/denied in the “New Learner Approval” report before they get an email with their credentials to login. Since a user can type in anything to self-create an account, this option means that every self-created account must be verified for validity before login credentials are sent out to the new learner.

NOMINATE_SHOW_MODAL_FOR_DETAILS

Determines whether a priority level comes up when nominating learners for training. The default is 0 = False.

PACING_RED_DAYS_BEHIND

If a learner falls this number of days behind on their progress for a course, their Progress will be displayed as Red across Genius.

PACING_YELLOW_DAYS_BEHIND

If a learner falls this number of days behind on their progress for a course, their Progress will be displayed as Yellow across Genius.

PASSING_GRADE

This determines the grade that will be used as a threshold when deciding whether a learner has passed a course or not. This is important when determining if a learner is eligible for any pre-requisites or any additional courses in a Learning Pathway, for example. Default Value: 60

PASSWORD_EXPIRATION_DAYS

Determines the number of days between when the learner is forced to change their password upon login.

PICTURE_CACHE_EXPIRES_MIN

Determines the amount of time catalog images are cached in enhance performance on large catalogs.

This sets the % of a course's Price that will be refunded to the user. See "REFUND_FEE" parameter for additional details on this regard.

STARTDATE: Enrollment allowed until the section’s start date. ENDDATE: Enrollment allowed until the section’s end date. Blank: NO logic will be executed. ONGOING: Enrollment in sections with no section start or end dates will not be affected.

REMIND_DAYS_BEFORE_END_LEARNERS

This allows you to configure the number of days before the end date of a course when Genius will send an email to the Learners enrolled in that course. You can edit the template used in this email under REMIND_DAYS_BEFORE_END_LEARNERS.

REMIND_DAYS_BEFORE_START_INSTRUCTOR

This allows you to configure the number of days before the start date of a course when Genius will send an email to the Instructor responsible for that course. You can edit the template used in this email under REMIND_DAYS_BEFORE_START_INSTRUCTOR.

REMIND_DAYS_BEFORE_START_LEARNERS

SCHOOL_NAME

This parameter is used widely throughout Genius. It corresponds to your organization's name. It will be used in a few auto emails, reports and in other places across Genius and the documents that it generates for your end users.

SEND_EMAILS

Determines if Genius sends emails or not (1=True, 0=False).

SHOULD_CHARGE_ENROLLMENT_BY_BACKOFFICE

Determine if the learner will be charged for section when enrolled by a user through a back-end process (1=True, 0=False).

SHOULD_MIGRATE_UPLOAD_FILES

Determines whether the Genius will migrate the upload files to azure storage in application start.

SHOULD_NEVER_OVERWRITE_LMS_PASSWORDS

Determines whether a password change in Genius is pushed as the new password in the LMS too (1=True, 0=False). Overwriting the LMS password keeps both passwords in sync.

SMTP_GLOBAL_FROM_ADDRESS

Global email address used when the SMTP Credentials are provided. We will use this value as sender and the original Sender will be put in the Reply List. It means that the email received will came from the Global Email Address, but when the user replies to this email, it will be sent to the original sender.

SMTP_GLOBAL_FROM_ADDRESS_NAME

Defines the display name for From emails for all emails sent by Genius.

LEARNER_BULKACTIONS_AUTO_EXPAND_ADVANCED_FILTERS

Determines whether the Learner and Enrollment, Bulk Actions, Advanced Filters are automatically expanded or not when landing on the page.

SUBSCRIPTION.WORDING

This wording is added to the emails delivered by Genius when you create a reporting subscription. You can edit the messaging included with those emails by editing this parameter.

SUPPORT_EMAIL

This support email address is displayed on the default login page. It should be changed to your internal support team's email address. If set at the affiliation level, the affiliation SUPPORT_EMAIL will override this system default. The parameter is used as Sender in Genius auto emails (like Password Reset, Course Completion, Course Created). For this case, this parameter will work with the SMTP_GLOBAL_FROM_ADDRESS setting.

SUPPORT_PHONE

This is the contact number for your organization's support. It may be displayed across multiple locations in the LMS, and it may also be used as a template variable that can be included in various email templates. If set at the affiliation level, this system default will not be used for that affiliation.

SUPPORT_URL

This configures the URL that will be used to redirect your users when they state that they need help under the "Contact our Support Site" entry in the login page for your Genius instance. If your organization has its own support organization, you can use this parameter to redirect them to your own Web site.

TABLE_PAGE_SIZE

Used to determine how many rows are displayed on a page. This controls the number of rows displayed on the tables rendered by Genius.

TOUCHNET_PASSWORD

Parameter required to integrate Genius with the TouchNet payment gateway. Genius is a TouchNet Ready Partner.

TRANSCRIPT_GROUPED_BY_TERM

Determines whether the transcript, which displays all the completed course-sections by learner, is grouped by term or not (1=True, 0=False).

UNENROLLED_ARCHIVED

Unenroll a student when their status changes to archived.

USAGE_TERMS_FILE

On the publicstudentsignup page there is a link for the organization's usage terms. This parameter points to either a URL or a file uploaded to Genius that contains the organization's usage terms.

USE_DAYS_BEHIND

This determines whether Genius will use the number of days in which a learner is behind on his or her course progress to measure progress. If you have a flexible learning initiative where start and end dates may not be very important, this parameter may not be relevant to you.

USE_GENIUS_CERTIFICATE

Determines whether the Certificate that will be used in the SAML SSO process will be the one generated by Terraform or the self signed one created by the application. (1- Self Signed Created by the Application / 0 - The one generated by terraform will be used)

USE_SAML2_DLL

Determines whether the SSO process using SAML to login to Genius uses the SAML2 DLL or ITfoxtec. (1 - uses the SAML2 dll / 0 - uses the ITfoxtec dll)

UTC_DIFFERENCE_HOURS

This Parameter sets the time difference, in hours, between UTC time (essentially GMT time) and the time of the location where your server or your operations are based. Changing this would allow you to display events in reports, logs, etc. In local time, as opposed to server time. This parameter also determines the time zone for section meeting times, so the attached calendar ics file blocks out the correct time in the learner's calendar.
