Introduction
In Genius, there is a way to require requests for enrollment to be approved by a manager or administrator. An instructor cannot approve this. This way, learners will have to wait until their request to enroll in the given section is approved or denied before becoming enrolled.
In addition to enrollments, there is also a way to set up approvals from the public student account sign-up form you create. This enables an 'application' type feature that requires a manager's approval for a learner to have access to your Genius instance/catalog.
To require approval for enrollment within a course:
STEP 1: Select Courses > any Course > Edit > Requires Approval > Yes
STEP 2: To check pending approvals, an ADMIN or AFFILIATION MANAGER must select Reports > Enrollments > Course Requests. Affiliation managers will only see course requests for learners in the affiliation they manage.
To require approval upon account creation:
STEP 1: Select Administration > System Setup > Parameters
STEP 2: Search for "NEW_LEARNERS_REQUIRE_APPROVAL"
STEP 3: Select the Edit pencil icon, set the value to 1, and save.
STEP 4: To check pending approvals, Select Reports > Enrollments > New Learner Approval.
- This will provide you with a list of new learners pending approval, along with the information they provided in the initial public sign-up.
