Both affiliation managers and administrators can create learners. A manager can only create learners within their affiliation, whereas administrators can create learners in any affiliation.
To add a new learner, users can click on the Learners link in the left-hand menu and then click on “Add Learner” in the left menu. This will allow the administrator or manager to enter the information for the new learner. Items highlighted in blue are required. Learners can also be created in bulk by importing a simple CSV spreadsheet. If you assign a user to an affiliation, the user will be assigned the Blackboard institution roles associated with that affiliation. The institution's roles determine branding and access within Blackboard.
A message will indicate the learner has been successfully created, and the learner will receive an email with his/her credentials. The wording of this email, which the administrator can configure, is set in the template AUTO_NEW_USER_CREATED, located under the Administration link -> Templates. If you don’t specify a login and/or a password, Genius will automatically assign one. Clicking on the Learners tab displays a list of all existing learners, including the one that was recently created.
If the learner is assigned to a Learning Path, the learner will be automatically enrolled in any course tied to that learning path. You can assign a learner to many learning paths at the same time by using the “Enroll in Learning Path” link once you click on a learner. You will specify the learning path and the start and end dates for enrollment in the learning path, meaning that all the courses that make up that learning path must be completed by the learner within that period.
