Affiliations are a way to organize, group, and filter learners. They can be based on a department, location or any other characteristic that may be relevant to segmenting your organization. Administrators can create as many affiliations as needed, and they can map sections, learners, instructors, and managers to these affiliations.
To add a new affiliation, the administrator can click on the Affiliations link in the Left menu, and then click on the “Add Affiliations” link on the Left menu. All affiliations are created by default with the parent affiliation as (None), or level 1. If you specify a parent affiliation at creation, then the new affiliation would be created as a child of that parent affiliation with a level, 1 greater than the parent affiliation. Affiliations can be nested as many levels as needed.
If you click on an affiliation name, Genius will display a page where you can enter relevant information for that affiliation. If you enter Blackboard learner or instructor institution roles, users associated with the affiliation will be given those Blackboard institution roles when Genius creates them. The first role will be their primary Blackboard institution role, and any additional roles will be their secondary Blackboard institution roles. You can also select certificates by a section and a learner’s affiliation. Only fields marked in blue are required; all other fields are optional.
Once you click on “Save”, you will get a message confirming the affiliation was created. The message will include a link that will take you to this affiliation’s profile page in Genius. You can also get to an affiliation’s profile page by clicking on the Affiliations link in the left menu and then clicking on the affiliation name.
Once you are in the affiliation profile page, you will see a link on the left called “Add Manager”. This page allows you to add managers who have access only to the data associated with that affiliation. You can be a manager in many affiliations. Upon creation, the affiliation manager will receive a welcome email with their username and password. The affiliation manager can click on “Enrollment History” to view all affiliation learners who have completed training sections, along with their final grades. The affiliation manager can also click on “Active Enrollments” to view all affiliation learners who are currently in training sections, along with their current grade, start and end dates of the section, and progress.
